Journey of a green witch

You've found your way to my bio, so you must want to know how it all began. Well for me it all started in primary school, collecting bits of plants and roots for what I considered make-believe potions and brews. I thought nothing of it having always experimented with mudpies and other strange concoctions in my cubby house at home.

I then started dabbling in witchcraft and paganism when I was still in high school. I had a close friend who was also intrigued by the magical workings of nature so we would spend our free time scouring the local library to learn about herbs and spells. We read more about Wicca and even began our own book of shadows and would perform spells for love and power. We even did some camping in my backyard and do workings under the full moon.

Time goes on and things change. We spent less time together and our shared interests shifted. We both made new friends and time went on. I still had this curiosity for what it meant to be a witch so in my spare time I read more about traditional witchcraft. I didn't have anyone to share my interest with and I often wondered if it had all been a silly phase.

It wasn't until I learned more about different religions and learned the history of Wicca that I realised I didn't resonate with the idea of a deity. Maybe it's just too big of an idea to get my head around but that is how I feel. I do resonate with the concept of energy, the power of the earth, and our universe. I believe there is magic in that energy that we can harness and use for good.

When I began University I would still add to my spellbook, I'd collect crystals and indulge my fascination with the craft on and off. In 2006 I decided to get serious about my interest in the craft and to understand how it would fit in my life. While much of my time was consumed with school and my part-time job I managed to learn and grow as a witch.

My practice

then finding a job to support my goals. It's funny how fast time can pass by.

Emilia is my chosen name, all names have meaning. I believe we each have 3 names, the name our parents or guardians gave us, our chosen name, and our true name. When working with magic I feel it is important to protect yourself, having a chosen name is one part of that.
