My Garden

First and foremost, I wish to acknowledges the Wurundjeri People, the Traditional Owners of the land on which the garden stands, and pay our respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging.

My garden is the key to my magic.

My garden and kitchen provide a closed circle of life. As part of my practice I celebrate the changing of the seasons and all the gifts the earth provides. I am a strong believer in permaculture, growing organically, and as traditionally as I can.

I am by no means self-sufficient, I enjoy many modern conveniences. I do shop locally and make a point of purchasing organic when I don't manage to grow my own. My garden helps me to recycle food scraps and it provides me with fresh ingredients for cooking and spell work all year round.

My garden has been set up to mimic the patterns and relationships found in nature. In this way, I encourage wildlife into my space which in turn helps me to reduce the pests that would otherwise eat everything. To me the wild look of it is beautiful while also yielding an abundance of food, fibre and energy.

Below is an example of how plants tend to grow naturally in nature:

This is the aim of permaculture. Not only re-creating this system but encouraging all of the natural animals that assist my garden.

As I plant and grow my garden I will add pictures to this page and to the blog. Every space is different and what might work well for one space wouldn't work for another.
